Tour sights:
Uçhisar Castle: Uçhisar Castle is situated at the heart of Cappadocia, and also the highest peak in the Cappadocia region. From its summit you will have a magnificent panoramic view of the whole region, from where you can also observe the volcano Mount Erciyes. The name of the castle (Uçhisar) derives from the enormous size of the rock into which it is cut, being its central feature. Uçhisar Castle is located within a small village with many lovely old stone houses, some of them with fine carvings on their facades. There are plenty of shops, so you will have an opportunity to purchase local goods and traditional ornaments during your trip.
Göreme Open Air Museum: A UNESCO World Heritage site, Goreme Open Air Museum is the main centre of attraction in the region, providing an overview of what Cappadocia has to offer to its visitors. As a monasterial complex consisting of churches, rectories, and dwellings, it was one of the worlds earliest centres of religious education. In the museum area there are at least 10 churches and chapels, with beautiful well-preserved frescoes which date back to the 10th and 11th centuries.
LUNCH
Paşabağ: Paşabağ, also known as the Valley of the Monks, is the place where you can find the most magical cone-shaped fairy chimneys. Paşabağ is like a forest of three capped fairy chimneys, and these will look familiar to you from the photos and brochures you have looked at whilst you were planning your trip to Cappadocia. In the area there are also some chapels and churches containing well/preserved frescoes and paintings from the Byzantine era.
Devrent Valley: Also known as Imaginary, or Magic Valley, Devrent Valley is famous for its magnificent landscape and animal shaped fairy chimneys. Small and large shaped fairy chimneys are plentiful here, and bear the resemblance of animals such as camels, snails, dolphins etc. Use your imagination to find your favourite animal among these uniquely shaped rocks. Prepare your cameras to take breathtaking photos, which are sure to instil these memories and views for a lifetime.
Avanos: Avanos is a small town which is the centre of art and handcrafts in the region. The most well-known produce of the town is its pottery, first started by the Hittite people around 4000 years ago. You will have the opportunity to observe and try making some yourself, and also buy unique ornaments to take home with you. Avanos is also a renowned tourist attraction due to its old traditional houses, landscape and the Red river (the longest river in Turkey) which divides the village into two shores.
End of our 'Travel in Turkey' Cappadocia tour. You will be transferred to the airport for an evening flight back to Istanbul. Upon arrival, as the final leg of your Cappadocia day trip, you will be transferred from the airport back to your hotel.
