We offer you an epic “good morning” with our half day Old Istanbul Tour. You will visit the fabulous historical heritage sites of the city: Sultanahmet Area, Blue Mosque and Hippodrome, St. Sophia and Grand Bazaar.
St.Sophia: Was built in 6th century by the Byzantine emperor Justinian and was designed to surpass every other edifice ever constructed in the name of God. Originally built as a church it was converted into a mosque by the Ottomans. It now serves as a museum but it has been an important symbol of Christianity for almost a thousand years.
Blue Mosque: Famous for its blue Iznik tiles, the mosque is one of the most iconic features of Istanbul’s skyline. It was constructed by Sultan Ahmet in 17th century who was determined to build a Muslim masterpiece to rival the Christian built St. Sophia. The Blue Mosque has six minarets and was the first mosque with this characteristic.
Hippodrome: Rowdy chariot races, flamboyant royal celebrations and bloody massacres used to take place in this area. Four monuments of the era still survive and can be visited today - Obelisk of Theodosius, Serpentine Column, German Fountain of Wilhelm II.
Grand Bazaar: The Grand Bazaar is one of the world’s largest, oldest and most famous covered bazaars. It has nearly 4000 shops selling jewelry, leather, pottery, spices and carpets. The Grand Bazaar is a center of commerce and represents the unique traditional Turkish shopping culture.
